World Vegetarian Day

As most of my readers know, we eat a lot of meat-free meals. A couple of years ago we went vegetarian for a year. You can read more about that here. These days I usually cook mostly vegetarian at home and try to select organic, humanely-raised meats and poultry for those times we do eat meat. It's a personal issue and I'm not going to preach about it one way or another, especially since I'm sort of a fence-straddler myself. I do, however, think it's good to be informed and to make conscious decisions about what we eat.

If you are currently a meat eater but would like to give vegetarianism a try, click on the graphic at the top of this post, sign the pledge and you could win up to $1000. And to make it easier, here are a few of my favorite meat-free recipes:

Okay, that should give you a few ideas. You can also read back through my menu posts and other recipes, or click on the label "Vegetarian" in the left side-bar. I'd love to hear if you're signing the pledge. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm not signing it. We are going to New Orleans later this month and I fully intend to enjoy at least seafood while I'm there. ;)
